William / Hoyland Pickering / son of the aforesaid / who was killed in action / in France June / 30th 1916 / Also Hannah / daughter / of the aforesaid / died March 27th 1890 / aged 6 years / and 6 months / Asleep in Jesus / Also Fred / the beloved husband of / Ruth A Pickering / died Oct 27th 1936 / aged 46 years / Interred at Carlton Cemetery near Blackpool. 
                                                                                                                             
William Pickering is buried in the Longuenesse (St Omar) Souvenier Cemetery in France and is commemorated  on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website

William Pickering served in the Canadian Infantry.
