In Loving Memory of / George Peel, Butcher of this Town / the beloved husband of Hannah Peel/ who died Octr 27th 1903 aged 49 years / Also the aforementioned Hannah Peel / who died November 25th 1923 /
Also George Smith, the dearly loved grandson of the aforementioned / who was accidentally killed in France and interred at / Vignacourt Cemetery August 15th 1918, Aged 18 years. 


Note:
Son of Tom & Mary Margaret Smith.

He is also remembered on the Barnsley, Holgate Grammar School Old Boys - WW1 Memorial Plaque in the Cooper Gallery, the Grammar School having been demolished.

George is buried in the Vignacourt British Cemetery and commemorated on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website.
