(This gravestone is the one before the  Houghton Main Memorial to the far right of the path as you walk from the main entrance of Darfield Church  - letter B on the Friends of Darfield Churchyard's map which can be downloaded as a .pdf  file here.)

In loving memory of / Annie / the beloved wife of / Thomas Woodyatt / who died 22nd January 1917 / aged 22 years / she is not dead but sleeping / also Mary Ann Polly / the devoted wife of the above / who died January 5th 1947 / aged 45 years / At Rest /  Also of George Hukin the beloved son / of Thomas & Mary Woodyatt / who was killed in action nr. the Dardanelles / May 6th 1915 aged 23 years / He nobly answered duty's call / His life he gave for one and all.

George Hukin Woodyatt is remembered on the Helles Memorial in Turkey and commemorated on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website.


George is also remembered on the following  Darfield Village Club Roll of Honour  and on the Darfield Middlewood Shrine Doncaster Rd and on the  Darfield Cenotaph Welfare Park Church St.
