In Ever Loving Memory of (Jim) / James / the dearly loved husband of / Alice Clarke / died October 26th 1938 aged 64 years / Also Alice Sophia dearly loved wife of the above / died May 21st 1943 / Also (Jimmy) Lieut. James Burford Clarke / the beloved only son of the above / killed in action at Perronne Sept. 2nd 1918 aged 23 years / "Deep are the memories that cannot fade".

James Burford Clarke is remembered on the Barnsley Holgate Grammar School  WW1 Old Boys Memorial and on the  Combined St Marys Church War Memorial Barnsley

He is buried in the Peronne Communal Cemetery Extension in France and commemorated on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website.
