Lance Corpl. / William Henry Savage / 13th York and Lancs / elder beloved son of / Thomas & Martha Savage / of Kendal Green / born Jan 27th 1887, died May 6th 1917 / also Lance Corpl. Charles Edward Savage / 10th York & Lancs, their younger son / born Feb. 10th 1893, fell in action in France Nov. 16th 1916 / Greater love hath no man than this. 

William Henry Savage is buried in this grave so it is not a war memorial for him.  He is also remembered on the  Worsborough Combined Memorial St Thomas and St Johns Worsborough Dale
